I recently started seeing a new doctor and went yesterday to get the results of my check up. Thyroid – great, cholestorol – excellent, blood pressure – high, weight – very high. So, obviously I need to lose weight. Not a surprise, but I hadn’t realized just how much I weighed until yesterday and it had me shook. I had started making a concerted effort to lose weight last year, and it was working. Not a tremendous amount of weight loss, but enough to drop a couple of sizes. However, a life changing event occurred that threw me all off my game and I haven’t gotten it back on track yet. What I’m hoping is that writing it down will solidify my determination to make some changes so here it is. Now I’m not trying to lose 50 pounds by the end of the month, but I believe 50 pounds in 6 months is doable, so that’s my goal. It starts now, one step at a time…walking a flight of stairs here, eating more vegetables there, until it becomes second nature and something I want to do. So, wish me luck, encouragement is appreciated and I’ll check in along the way with any updates.
What food or drink do you love when it’s cold out? (Recipes and recommendations, please!)
This is when I start getting back into soup…clam chowder, split pea, and an old favorite that I like to call refrigerator soup – basically any leftover in the frig goes into it (those sides of veggies that never got finished, chicken, potatoes, beans…whatever).
As for drink, coffee’s good, tea sometimes, but if you really want to chill out get some hot apple cider spiked with Grand Marnier. Mmm, mmm good!
